We are deeply committed to respecting and honouring the Earth and Cacao’s natural environment—supporting sustainable agriculture and finding meaningful ways to help farmers and their families flourish. Our mission is to keep alive traditional cultivation methods and protect ancient varieties of Cacao, along with the vibrant ecosystems they sustain.
Our Cacao is grown in the coastal jungles of Ecuador, at an elevation of 700 meters, where it is kissed by the ocean breeze and nurtured in agroforestry—growing in harmony with a diversity of plants and animals. These family-owned farms are tended by local farmers who cultivate each tree organically and with immense care.
The Cacao is fermented in wooden boxes and sun-dried by one of the younger farmers. The fermentation station itself was a gift from us, funded by the love and support of our CacaoAmor community. Once ready, the beans journey to our chocolate laboratory in Cayambe, where Danilo—our beloved Cacao wizard—alongside Carito and Gaby, toasts and hand-selects them. After peeling, the beans are ground in a stone grinder made with metate—the same volcanic stone used for millennia to prepare Cacao—now powered by electricity, blending ancient wisdom with modern tools.
As we process CacaoAmor, we play Cacao medicine songs, infusing every step with intention, joy, and reverence. Once melted, the Cacao is poured into moulds without tempering, preserving its natural compounds—making it a pure, potent elixir for ceremonial drinking.
Cultivating ceremonial Cacao.
The beans are stone grounded, ensuring all the good properties of the cacao are preserved. This is the best way to create quality paste for ceremony and to make nutritiously healthy chocolates, drinks and foods.
We believe that if you want to make a difference then you need to do something different. We are dedicated to encourage our customers to be contributors not only consumers. When you purchase Cacao from CacaoAmor you are contributing to the preservation of Cacao’s natural habitat and improving the quality of life of those who protect and care for it.
In Cacao we trust…
